Replacement is free – as long as your meter is accessible and required clearances are provided, Westernport Water will cover the replacement cost.

Residents, landowners and property managers will be given at least 7 days notification via direct mail prior to any meter replacement activities starting in their area.

The average time taken to replace a water meter and stop tap is around 15-20 minutes, however it can take up to one hour and the water to the property will be turned off during this time.

A Westernport Water representative will knock on the door before changing the meter. Customers don’t have to be home during the replacement, and the knock is a courtesy to let them know that works are occurring.

After the replacement, a card will be left at the property notifying residents, landowners and property managers that the meter has been replaced.
