We’re replacing an ageing watermain in Archies Creek to improve water supply and reduce interruptions for customers in the surrounding area.

The Archies Creek water main renewal is one project under a $1.6M program of watermain renewals across the network.

The two-month project is due to begin in September 2023.

About the works

A 750m section of watermain will be replaced via directional boring, which is a low-impact method of installing underground pipes.

Directional boring, also known as directional drilling, is a trenchless technology that enables us to install a watermain with minimal disruption to the environment. It involves minimal surface excavation and enables the project to be completed with less impact on existing infrastructure, road users and residents.

Once installed, the new pipes will be cleaned, pressure tested, disinfected and flushed ready to supply customers.

Impact on water services

There will be one planned shutdown for the watermain to be connected to the network. This will occur on a weekday between the hours of 9am – 5pm. Affected customers will be notified via letter five business days prior.

No other water interruptions are anticipated during the works.
