Valve replacement works begin on water main

Westernport Water will be undertaking valve replacement works along the drinking water main between San Remo and Wimbledon Heights from now to August 2022.

The $707k project is part of our continuing program of renewals to maintain the reliability of the water supply for our customers and community. According to the 2020-21 Water Performance Report, Westernport Water currently has the third lowest number of bursts and leaks per 100km of main in the Victorian water sector.

Seven ageing valves will be replaced along sections of the pipeline at Wimbledon Heights, Sunset Strip, Surf Beach, Newhaven and San Remo.

During the construction there will be some interruption to water supply. Customers in affected areas will be notified ahead of time and we will provide a temporary water supply for critical needs.
