Bass Coast SuperPages Business Awards

The Bass Coast SuperPages Business Awards 2010 were held on Tuesday 22 June at Silverwater Resort, San Remo.

This year Westernport Water sponsored the award for Environment and Sustainable Business presented to Aldi Wonthaggi.

Aldi Wonthaggi won for their overall contribution to sustainably reducing their environmental footprint.

Aldi was recognised for its eco efficiency measures that include the use of bio degradable and reusable plastic bags since 2002, using reusable produce crates and lids on freezer units.

In addition, the business has minimised its lighting, heating and cooling consumption, and the plants and vegetation at the Aldi store are drought resistant native plants to save water.

Aldi has also reduced food wastage throughout the business while helping others by partnering with charitable food agencies.

Westernport Water recognises the efforts that businesses make for the environment and our local community.

“The strength and growth of our community and economy relies on the sustainable development of all businesses providing employment, investment and infrastructure,” Managing Director, Murray Jackson said.

The overall winner of the Bass Coast SuperPages Business of the Year 2010 was awarded to A Maze’N Things.

A Maze’N Things also took out the category of Tourism and Accommodation.
