Bass Coast Reconciliation Network seeks new logo to promote reconciliation and recognition efforts in Bass Coast

Bass Coast Reconciliation Network – News Release

Comprising of members from various organizations, the Bass Coast Reconciliation Network (BCRN) actively engages with support organizations and community groups to champion reconciliation, positive social change, and empowerment in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

The BCRN is calling on suitably experienced Bunurong, and/or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists who live on Bunurong Country, to submit designs representing the cultural essence of the Bass Coast region. The chosen design will be used digitally across all BCRN materials, reflecting the network’s commitment to reconciliation and recognition.

The BCRN has worked on several collaborative art projects and is excited to offer another great opportunity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait artists to create a central symbol that will further advance the message of reconciliation in the Bass Coast.

Applications will close at 2pm on Wednesday, 31 January 2024, and the outcome will be announced in mid-February 2024. The artwork will need to be delivered by the end of March 2024.

A selection panel, consisting of the Chair of the BCRN, an independent representative from the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Community, and a local artist, will evaluate submissions based on criteria like cultural sensitivity, connection to the community, and adherence to project timelines.

Quotes attributed to BCRN Co-Chair, Kate Adams:

“Working collectively, the Network is able to broaden our reach and have greater impact and we’re pleased to be able to provide great opportunities such as the logo design to First Nations artists.”
