It's that time of the year again when Shearwater fledglings (chicks) are due to depart the island bound for Alaska.

If you're on the island over the next couple of weeks, please take extra special care at night as these incredible birds may end up on the roads in their attempts to fly, often for the first time.

Some speed limits will be reduced, and Rangers and Volunteers will be installing warning signage and patrolling the island to rescue any birds that do end up on our roads.It's that time of the year again when Shearwater fledglings (chicks) are due to depart the island on their 16,000km journey, bound for Alaska.
