Local community groups rewarded for choosing tap

National Water Week Photo Competition winnersAs part of its National Water Week celebrations, Westernport Water ran an online photo competition to promote drinking water and give local community groups the chance to win much needed sponsorship.

All community groups in Westernport Water’s service area were invited to come and collect free refillable Choose Tap water bottles for their members, and asked to take a creative photo showing how water is at the heart of their culture.

Westernport Water’s Manager of Communications and Engagement, Geoff Russell said “We received a number of creative entries from local community groups National Water Week Photo Competition winnersand I would like to thank everyone for getting behind the initiative.”

“The competition was run during October and November to raise awareness of the importance of water and proved very successful with photos receiving more than 1000 votes.”

“We appreciate the Choose Tap message being supported and spread throughout our community and congratulate all of the winners.”

“With summer starting today, we encourage people to Choose Tap and make the switch to reusable water bottles, as it reduces plastic waste from single use plastic water bottles and is better for the environment.”

“To help make the switch easier, we have been installing drinking water refill stations and bubblers around the region, in convenient and easy to access public spaces,” said Mr Russell.
