Water Plan 2013-2018

Westernport Water is planning to engage with its customers along with the broader community when developing water and sewerage solutions to meet the region's future growth. Over the coming months, we would like to understand your needs and expections while we develop our water plan for the next five year period, beginning July 2013.

In the new year, Westernport Water will be holding a series of community forums as part of its consultation for the development of Water Plan 3 which runs from 2013 to 2018. We invite the public to attend and give their input on some of the region’s water issues:

Westerport Water encourages anyone who may be interested in the development of Water Plan 3 to register their interest on our Feedback page, or contact our Customer Service team on 1300 720 711.

Water Supply Demand Strategy

Westernport Water’s draft Water Supply Demand Strategy (WSDS) is now available for public comment. The WSDS seeks to identify the best mix of measures to maintain a balance between the demand for water and the availability of supply in Westernport Water’s serviceable area.

Prepared on a five year basis the 2013- 2018 WSDS also provides a long-term 50 year outlook and reviews all available sources of water and incorporates principals of integrated water management. It considers social, environmental and economic costs and benefits along with the risk factors associated with population growth and climate change.

The objective of the Water Supply Demand Strategy is to facilitate efficient and effective water planning and investment by Westernport Water ensuring, safe, secure, reliable and affordable water supplies that meet customer’s needs. All projects aim to enhance liveability, prosperity and the environment in which we live.

WSDS also maintains that water planning is subject to a robust and transparent decision making process, with clear direction, responsibilities and accountabilities, while remaining adaptable to our changing environment.

Westernport Water has recently presented components of this plan at a recent community forum and involved its Customer Consultative Panel (CCP) during the development of the draft Water Supply Demand Strategy, and is now seeking the views of the community.
