Meter readers are on their way
METER readers from Westernport Water will be out and about for the first two weeks of February.
The team of six readers will visit almost 14,000 Westernport Water customers in the first of the three meter reading cycles for 2008.
Landowners are asked to clear their water meters of long grass and overhanging branches.
All meter readers wear clothing that clearly identifies them as working for Westernport Water. They also carry identification cards.
If members of the public have any concerns, please contact Merryl Todd on (03) 5956 4100.
Managing Director David Mawer said: “The area is still on Stage Two water restrictions. Just to remind our customers – these include a ban on watering lawns, using hoses without trigger nozzles, washing a car with a hose not connected to a high-pressure device or filling up large swimming pools without approval from Westernport Water .
“There are certain times allowed for watering the garden. You can water using a trigger-nozzle-fitted hose, watering can or bucket at any time,” Mr Mawer said. “However, a manual watering system can only be used between 6-8am and 8-10pm on alternate days."
An automatic watering system can be used between midnight-4am on alternate days. Alternate days? Mr Mawer explained: “It’s easy … odd house numbers on odd days, even house numbers on even days.”
