Recycled Water

Westernport Water has constructed an Effluent Filtration Facility at the Cowes Wastewater Treatment Plant and King Road Treatment Plant. The tertiary treated reclaimed water produced expands on past reuse options. It:

·        Replaces potable water for on-site reuse within the treatment process including scum sprays on secondary sedimentation tanks (50ML/year) and is used to backwash the filtration facility last year 30ML

·        Extends irrigation at the Cowes Golf Club to greens as well as fairways and reduces restrictions on storage times and of watering (80ML/year) last year 40ML

·       Irrigation of Cowes Recreation Reserve

·       Provides community groups with a portable recycled water tanker

·       Allows businesses access to the recycled water
